High level turnout at Leadership Forum underscores opportunities for trans-Tasman collaboration

Some 250 senior Australian and New Zealand business and community leaders, twelve Government Ministers and two Prime Ministers will meet in Sydney this Friday, 2nd March, to identify ways to strengthen the trans-Tasman relationship.

Ann Sherry AO, Australian Co-Chair of the Australia New Zealand Leadership Forum (ANZLF), says, “The trans-Tasman relationship remains important for both countries.  The twelfth meeting of the ANZLF will consider how Australia and New Zealand can work together to tackle the challenges of economic growth and productivity.  This Forum is also an occasion to look ahead to the forces that will impact on the relationship in the future and to consider where we can combine our skills and talent to achieve global success.”

“The ANZLF’s significance as the premier place for trans-Tasman thought leadership and relationship building is highlighted by the expected presence of many senior business and community leaders as well as the involvement of our Prime Ministers and the quantity and quality of Australian and New Zealand Cabinet Ministers who will be joining us at various points during the day.”

Adrian Littlewood, New Zealand Co-Chair of the ANZLF says “Since the last Forum in October 2016, Trans-Tasman business leaders have been taking part in five sector groups to look at new opportunities for trans-Tasman collaboration in the areas of innovation, infrastructure, tourism, agribusiness and health technology.  We will review their proposed initiatives and hopefully add to their recommendations at this week’s Forum.  We want to see some concrete outcomes emerging from this Forum. We are also looking forward to our new sector group on indigenous business getting underway.”

The Australian New Zealand Leadership Forum in Sydney will coincide with the annual Summit meeting between the Australian and New Zealand Prime Ministers.
