A relaxation of New Zealand’s Migrant Investment Policy has been welcomed by Business NZ.

Economic Development Minister Gerry Brownlee and Immigration Minister Dr Jonathan Coleman today announced a revamp of the business migration policy, making New Zealand more attractive for business and entrepreneurial migrants.

What was previously three categories have now been collapsed into two, with more relaxed rules around each category.

Business NZ Chief Executive Phil O’Reilly said this announcement was great news for New Zealand business as it should result in increased net investment levels, overseas contacts and international business networks.

“In addition to the money they are bringing into the country, these migrants will have overseas contacts of great worth to our economy.

“We should welcome these people with open arms as there are plenty of other countries competing for them. With New Zealand being so small and isolated, by securing these investment migrants we have the potential to gain even more value from them than many other countries.”
