Extension of job support scheme sensible

The decision to extend the job support scheme to medium sized businesses makes sense, says Business NZ.

Business NZ Chief Executive Phil O’Reilly says companies have been calling for the move, which could provide temporary assistance for a larger number of firms.

“This is only one part of the overall picture, and it will not be the answer for every company, but it has the potential to ease the payroll pressure on those firms suffering the effects of the downturn.

“We note the Government has said it is looking at other kinds of assistance for smaller firms and we look forward to working with Government on that. It will be important that small businesses have enough information on workplace rights and responsibilities to also be able to work creatively on their own account.”
